1999 Plymouth Prowler

The design of the Prowler was inspired after Chrysler engineers were given free rein to create whatever they desired in a “hot rod” or “sportster” type vehicle. One of the most striking design features of the Prowler are the open, Indy racer style front wheels. The 253hp 6 cyl engine is attached to a 4-speed Autostick automatic transmission. The transmission is located at the rear of the vehicle and joined to the engine by a flexible driveshaft that rotated at engine speed, an arrangement similar to that used by the C5 Corvette, Porsche 944 and Alfa Romeo 75 which helped to facilitate a desirable 50-50 front-rear weight distribution. The Prowler’s light weight translates into very impressive performance figures, including off-the-line acceleration of 0-62 in 5.9 seconds. The car prominently features aluminum construction, mainly in the chassis, special factory paint, air conditioning, steering wheel trim, leather seats, center console, cruise control, remote keyless entry, trunk release, power steering, adjustable steering wheel and many more options. This car is one of the total 8530 Plymouth Prowlers produced. Please note that the Prowler was also marketed under the Chrysler Prowler name. There were 11,700 Prowlers produced during 1997 and 1999 through 2001.
